“dreamweaver is dying”

It comes off as a bit heavy-handed, but raises some interesting questions about the immediate future of the web (and our education).
The author points to Content Management Systems, based on user-generated content, as the future (and he seems particularly in love with one called Drupal)

    Hey Tom,
Interesting article, but the author forgets that clients still need designers and developers to develop and customize those content management systems. I am a big fan of drupal and wordpress and definitely agree that we need to adapt to them. That is part of the reason why I have the class post onto this blog, and why we’ll integrate blog content into our sites later on.

Since you’re interested in the dev side, I would definitely encourage you to look into drupal. If you have a hosting service with a mysql database and php, and a chunk of time, you can install it and try it out, all for free. Follow the directions carefully, but don’t forget, there’s nothing equal to understanding how all of it works!
